Reminders

I've been away from this blog for far too long.

Work has been busy, family life has been busy, and worship has been busy, with new songs to learn and the new location to get used to. But I've missed sharing thoughts and images here.

In just 10 weeks or so we're flying off to Africa. Given enough grace and patience we'll be able to forge strong, flexible bonds between our small church and the people of Mhlosheni. They will be a part of our family and we, I hope, will be a part of theirs.

Look at these beautiful, liquid pictures, and then scroll to the bottom of this post to read the contrasts that shock and drive me.

In sub-Saharan Arica alone, 2.1 million people died of AIDs last year.

Oddly enough, this number is the same as the population of the entire Portland metropolitan area.

In the small region we'll be visting there are over 8,000 orphans.

What are we doing to help?
